Amy customized our cult favourite rose gown with bespoke sleeves and removable ‘wings’.

How would you describe your Mirka Bridal Couture experience?

This was the first and only bridal dress shop I visited. I saw Mirka's collection at the Scottish Wedding show and just knew I had to visit for an appointment. I went with my mum and sister and as soon as we entered the shop it was warm and friendly and they wanted to make sure I had all the help I could get. I tried on several dresses and each time I was supported and they allowed me to take my time to really look at each dress. I did not feel under pressure or forced to make a decision on anything. I was totally relaxed and happy being there.

Which dress did you wear and how did you know it was 'The One'?

I wore the "Rosa" dress. I tried on several of the dresses in Mirka's collection but I kept coming back to that one because i absolutely loved the shape, the style and material of the dress - it was just so me!The only thing I was really wanting in a dress was a V shaped back and no sleeves, but the Rosa dress didn't have that soI was still unsure if it was the one. Mirka was listening to everything I was saying I liked and after I put that dress on so many times she came over and showed me a sketch she had drawn. She had drawn the Rosa dress but with the changes I was looking for. It was amazing! She said she could change the dress slightly and make it exactly how I want.

I then looked in the mirror wearing the dress, imagining the v back and no sleeves, and I just began to cry! I knew it was my dress and it was the one!

How did you find the process of having a dress made to measure and custimised to you?

It was super easy and straight forward and actually pretty exciting!

I went over the space of 5 weeks and each time I went Mirka had added a little detail on. She listened to everything I said, if I wanted to add or change anything or if something wasn't feeling or sitting right. Even to the last moment when I wanted the shoulder "wings" added on to give that extra look!

It was just such an amazing experience having my dress I imagined in my head come to life.

Your wedding was beautiful! What was your biggest wedding inspiration?

Our Wedding was totally inspired by everything myself and Connor love. We are big lovers of rock music and knew we wanted to incorporate that some home. Before we knew it we had a theme! It was still very traditional scottish wedding, but I liked to say, with a twist of me and Connor in there! I loved looking at Instagram posts for inspiration, but to be honest, I just went with what I felt would suit us and the venue and it turned out exactly how I thought! I felt even more pleased to see it come together as I made quite a few elements of the wedding decor, like the centre pieces, the favours, name places, the neon sign frame, the ceremony banner and other little things.

It was exactly how I wanted it.

What is your favourite picture from your wedding day and why is this image so special to you?

My favourite picture of the day would have to be one from the sunset picture. This picture shows so much love and emotion and relaxtion from both of us. The way the light hits both of us and I remember at that moment I felt so whole. So complete and proud of us for getting to that point in our lives.

Finally, do you have any advice for future brides visiting Mirka Bridal Couture?

Enjoy the whole process and trust people's opinions. I went in thinking I would look for something completely different but came away with the dress that was meant for me. Don't put yourself under too much pressure and if there are little things you really want to have on your dress then speak to the experts!
